Julie Amazes Me!
This post goes out to all the moms! Especially my wife! I just got done with an afternoon with my two boys while Julie went out on a much needed "break" shopping and grabbing some coffee with her friend. What blows me away is that after watching the boys non-stop 24/7, when she gets a chance to stay out as long as she wants (like today), she still comes home early because she misses her boys! Dude, if I was her, and had to put up with the craziness of these guys as my main job all day every day with no time to myself, I would stay out as long as possible. Seriously, mothers have a gift! It's the gift of patience, unconditional love, and dying to themselves every day. Julie use to be an 8 hour a night sleeper minimum! She now sleeps between 5 and 6.5 hours a night and doesn't even complain. There are days when she doesn't even get to shower or get dressed because Logan throws off her schedule by waking up early or spitting up all over himself right after she changes him. She left me with the guys on Friday night to go to a baby shower and told me everything I needed to know and I forgot like half of the things I was supposed to do including feeding him a bottle after his baby food. Today she wrote down everything for me :) Anyways... just wanted to say that if you're a mom, you have rewards in heaven! You have the hardest and most important job in the world and you have my deepest respect! As a matter of fact, if you are a mom and have wanted to attend my January workshop, send me an email and tell me a bit about yourself. Include a pic of you with your family (so I can blog the winner) and your day to day duties of being a mom/wedding photographer. I'm going to choose one mom and give her free admission to my workshop. You'll still have to pay for travel, hotel, and you may have to convince dad to watch the kids for a week or find a babysitter, but most meals are included and I promise we'll take good care of you and give you lots of "adult" interaction! I won't be able to respond to everyone personally, but I will read all inquiries and make a decision and post the winner on my blog by Dec. 1st. I look forward to your emails!

yay for moms!
Mike,
I completely understand your sentiments. Even when my wife and I have time to ourselves, she's thinking about her children. We could be browsing through a bookstore, and she somehow ends up in the children's section looking for something for the boys, who are now 8 & 9 years old. I'm very grateful for everything she does in our house that makes it a home.
Dude...you have been blogin like a mad man lately, and it is good to see!
Aren't kitchen sink baths the ultimate best! My kids (and back) used to love them!
I totally agree about the Mom thing and it is a wonderful to see you offering this.
Some Dads do a lot of this too though. My wife has worked midnights at Neonatal Intensive Care since way before my daughter was born six years ago. That means that at least three days a week she leaves the house at 6 pm and doesn't return until 8:15 am. So I clean up dinner, take care of the kids until bed time, put them to bed, wake up a few times per night with my son, and then get up with them in the morning. It was worse when I had a 9-5 (really more like 6-6) job and trying to get to work on time. Now I just have to get them up and going, dressed, and have the lunches ready before the bus comes for school at 8a. I'm usually (or used to) working until the middle of the morning, then laying down for 2-3 hours before it starts all over again. Don't get me wrong, I love it and would have had kids 15-20 years ago if I knew it was going to be this great, but it all finally caught up with me and that is one of the reasons I have a pace maker in my chest now.
Love and miss you Bro!

You guys sound like a great set of parents! Your kids are very lucky:)
Wow!! I did not expect to get so many applications in the first day!! I've received 15 so far and I'll wait for a few more days before making a decision so if you're interested in a free seat at my workshop, send me an email this week!
Thanks for all of your comments too! Franky, you're a good man and an awesome father! You have rewards in heaven too and I will be praying that God will bless you with a healthy family for all of your hard work!
Mike,
You are 100 percent correct in your sentiments of Mom's. We all are better people due to all the good Mom's out there!. I can't even begin to comprehend what my wife goes through on a daily basis with Lauren and the new little one. I'm trying to get her to sit down to fill out her application on being a photography mom, as I'm sure she would love the workshop! In the meantime, I'll use this as my platform to politic for her vote!
Take it easy and I wish you, Julie, and the kids a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Your monologue regarding your wife is BEAUTIFUL, Mike! Makes me wish I had little ones RIGHT NOW (does my cat count?) ;-)
Makes me a little nervous to enter motherhood .... you mean it's possible to live on LESS than 8 hours of sleep? Uh-oh ....
Thanks for the photo wisdom and inspiration!
Mike,
What a great opportunity! I consider myself to be an amazing father, but there is no way that I have the patience and energy that God has given my wife.
She let me leave her with two toddlers and a three week old to hang with David Jay for a week during the summer, now it's her turn for a break and chance to grow.
Thanks for looking out for the moms!
Brian
dude, we don't have kids yet, but man, when we do, its gonna be crazy, Julie is so stable and consistent, You are blessed bro!
Mike,
I absolutely LOVE that you blog on your kids and especially your sweet wife! You are inspiring to other men out there who don't always so boldly THANK and appreciate their wives. My first time seeing you was at WPPI and you stood in front of probably 1000 professional photographers there to hear your inspiration and you took your phone, put it to the speaker to let us hear a bride's voicemail and first played a cute message from Aidan to his Daddy! And then you sat so proud and laughed at your little boy...it was SO COOL since so many people wouldn't feel comfortable doing that in a big group setting of photographers! Thanks for your inspiration over and over, I LOVE that you are giving a free session to a worthy mom (couldn't you have done this before I came...maybe if you ever have an advanced workshop). Tell Julie how much she inspires all of us too, I am about to have #3 and so nervous to pull off the business and 3 kids! Somehow it works out and the Lord blesses us though! Thanks again!
Wow! Over 50 applicants so far! How will I choose! If you are a mom/photographer and are still planning on applying for this free seat in my workshop, please do it no later than Wednesday 11/28/07 before midnight. I'll need the time to finish reading all of the applications to make my decision. Good luck! I hope to see you in January!
