The Secret Sauce
I got permission to disclose what I've been doing this week as long as I didn't give any details. I just spent two amazing days with 10 of the world's top photographers from every industry brought together by Apple here in Cupertino at the "Mother Ship" for an advisory panel meeting to help Apple better understand the needs of photographers. After spending this time behind closed doors with Apple's top executives and engineers, I am so impressed with how forward thinking they are and how eager they are to make my life simpler, more efficient, and more effective as a professional photographer. Wow... our industry has changed so much in the past few years and so much of that change was made possible by Apple! Apple's got the secret sauce that turns wild ideas into reality. I can't wait to see what comes from our discussions this week!
I had to hit up the Apple Store before I left for some new toys :)

Mike,
the apple TV is amazing chap. Had mine for a year, get Handbrake and it will move your movies and home DVDs into itunes so the kids will love you even more.
My 6 year old learnt the remote in 3 minutes.
Gootimes as uncleray says.

See I knew it! Apple is just up the street from the Cypress Hotel. Only one in the world like it. Do I get a prize for guessing correctly??
That's awesome Mike! Hopefully in due time you will be able to share some of the proposed topics and things that may be coming on the horizon. It must have felt pretty good to be selected for the advisory panel of such a forward thinking company. Have a great week and hopefully you are enjoying yourself!
New toys are always fun! I'm excited to hear more about what comes from this meeting. Could you do a post sometime on what you like about Aperture and how it's changed your workflow?
Thanks,
Corey
Juliet! I must admit I was a bit skeptical, when you claimed to know our location... however, you have truly proven yourself and named it. The only thing that would surprise me more is if you knew the room #.
Congrats! The cypress is truly one of a kind... you would only find polka dots, leopard print, and stripes in that hotel... Strangely, they pull it off rather well!
Is there any hope for Cinema Displays in portrait orientation? (I understand if you can't say.)
Or, alternately, is there any hope that you still could get a word in edgewise, and express that desire, for those of us who have been pleading for such a thing to no avail?
Do you see why some of us would crave such a thing? I'd really prefer two 30's, but differing in orientation. As is, a big Cinema Display is useful for browsing my catalogs, but maddening for work on the photos themselves, when they could suit my portraits so wonderfully instead.
...
jth,
you do know you can rotate the orientation (to 90, 180, or 270 degrees) in the display system prefs?
you still have to physically turn the ACD on it's side, but it works.
Maybe your talking about just being able to swivel the display without moving the base?
