Aidan and Tom for OC Metro Magazine

I photographed Thomas Antunez (past wedding client, now friend and mentor) for OC Metro Magazine when he made OC's top 40 under 40 list.  Naturally, Aidan was watching the shoot and wanted to step in for a cameo.

Deep Sea Fishing

Two weeks ago my buddy Ryan called me up and asked me to go on a deep sea adventure with him and a few other guys down to Mexico waters on a 35' fishing boat.  What a weekend!  We all caught something including my buddy Roy who was sea sick but managed to pull himself off the couch long enough to land one when the fish where hitting.  I am proud to say that I caught the biggest fish.  A beautiful 40+ lb Yellow Fin Tuna (shown above).  This guy was a fight!  It took me over an hour to reel him in on a 15 lb test fishing line.  He was playing mind games with me the whole time.  He kept diving deep and running out my line, then running a mile out from the boat near the water's surface and circling the boat like a shark.  He made me climb around the entire boat three and a half times before he finally gave up and let me pull him in.  It was an experience of a lifetime!  I gave half of the giant fish to my new friend Greg (shown in photo) who filleted it for me and I have been eating Tuna sashimi for the past week!  I also caught two large Dorados on the trip and cooked up some Cajun Maple Mahi Mahi for some friends last week.  I have to say.. it tasted fresh and fantastico!  Oh yeah, and thanks Ryan for gaffing my Tuna and not letting him get away!

Check out the newest and coolest resource website on the internet.  Most of you know uncleray already because he's been my go to assistant for all my big celebrity weddings for the last couple of years.  If you're wondering why I've chosen uncleray for so many jobs, here's the answer in a nutshell.  I trust him!  Not only is he selfless and generous and has a huge heart, he's also constantly watching my back and looking for ways to help me.  He's become part of my family along with his amazing wife Anna.

Ray sent me a link to his latest project a few days ago but I was traveling and didn't have time until now to check it out.  I just saw it and I am so proud of him!  He's really taking his generosity to a new level with this site.  He's built a place to share his favorite products and services with the world.  I think this will be a great resource for photographers who want to save the time and headaches involved with finding reliable products.  I'm behind you on this uncleray!  I'll be checking your site often for ideas and the latest products!

“all-new” presentation to debut at Partner Con LA

Hi everyone! I am just working on my all new presentation for the Pictage Partner Con and I am so excited about sharing it. The title of the presentation is "Starting from Nothing."

If you have not been to Partner Con it is great place to meet other Photographers, choose from a great line up of speakers to hear, meet and talk with vendors. It is very intimate environment that gives you the opportunity for a lot of one on one time with Photographers and Vendors that are involved. I am excited about being a part of it for the 4th year in a row and I hope to see you all there!

My own Bobble Head!

How funny is this? A photographer sent this to me a couple months back and it's a mirror image of me... completely customized with my sweater, JV Converse, and camera in hand! I can actually record my voice into it too.  It's been a great conversation piece here at the Colón residence.  Some people have said its the perfect gift for the guy who has everything.  I think they're right... it kinda makes me feel important.  haha totally kidding!  I'm actually afraid someone's going to steal it and do a little voodoo on me!  See below for a comparison photo of me :)
